Viniendo a Casa

Today we came home to Alcalá. McKenzie and were talking about how funny it is that coming back here really does feel like we're coming home. We missed eating with our family and being with Gloria and Raimundo. We really do love it here. Before we came all the way back to Alcalá though, we stopped off in a place with a church called Santo Domingo (not helpful, I know) to listen to some monks do some Gregorian chants. Apparently these guys made some platinum album in the 90's for their chants - super cool! It was really neat. We didn't get to record though, bummer.

I made a bouquet of flowers outside the church. I felt artsy.

After that it was home to Alcalá! We're totally exhausted, and definitely have a siesta coming for us tomorrow, but there's no place like home!!

El Día Perfecta

Friday was just the perfect day. Started out in France, and ended it on the beach. It was awesome. Once we got back from France we went right home, changed into swimsuits, and headed out for la playa. We were on La Playa Ondarreta, and it was AWESOME. It was super warm outside so the water felt sweet, but so did just laying on the towel. It was amazing. I tanned a bit, a lot of people burned too. Vale. Vale. Vale.

We also saw these guys playing a SWEET game of volleyball.. but like true Spaniards they made it soccer style so they weren't using their hands. We watched for a while, it was super good. This is the only little video I have of it though.

We stayed at the beach probably from 2-6. Danielle, Andrew, Stefan,  and I all stayed the longest. After we left the beach we went to eat pinchos. It's like tapas, but the food is spread along the bar and you grab what you want and pay when you're done. Super fun, super cheap. My phone had died though, so no pictures :( Basically, it was an amazing day.

Parlez-vous Français?

Friday morning we went to France! We got on the bus and hopped the border into San Jean de Luz. A tiny little city on the beach so that we could add France to our list of experiences. It was fun! Crazy though how 10 minutes past the border it's so different. The streets were all curvy whereas in Spain all the streets are straight. Everyone was speaking French too - which makes sense, but still. It was fun pulling out the 5 French words I know haha. We were still in Basque country though so there was a lot of Basque writing everywhere too. Basically, we English/Spanish speakers were in trouble. Luckily though, most everyone spoke either English or Spanish so we could get around. We had fun. We went to a cathedral, got some legit chocolate, and I got a hat! Tons of people were walking around in hats and I decided I wanted a cute hat that I could war around and to the beach, so Preston and Stefan helped me pick one out. I think they did good.

La Última Despedida
