Córdoba

This week we began our second excursion, this time into southern Spain. The first city on our list was Córdoba. It was absolutely beautiful! We went to this gorgeous Spanish-Muslim Mosque, and it had all of these beautiful arches and this beautiful red color pattern. It was amazing. We had this cute little tour guide and it was really cool getting to go around with her because she was entertaining and she also realized that we wanted to take pictures. She was sweet. This mosque was absolutely ginormous, and had even been remodeled in the time of the Christians when they were kicking out all the Muslims so the center is even a cathedral type looking thing and the rest of it is this beautiful Arabic/Muslim mosque. It was absolutely gorgeous.

Once we left the mosque we walked the streets of Córdoba with our guide. It was really cool, the town even though giant still seems to have a small feel to it. Maybe it's because the roads are all so tiny and narrow.

"If you want your pain to turn into joy, sinner do not pass without giving praise to Mary"
This street was called El Paseo de las Flores because the street is hung with flowers. It was cool. I thought Mom would really like it.

At the end of El Paseo de las Flores you can see the tower of the mosque

Snazzy little drinking fountain
We decided to climb the bell tower in the mosque and check out Córdoba from the birds eye view. It was really cool getting to see the city from the sky. It was so beautiful. I really enjoyed going up there and seeing everything from up high, it's so picturesque and scenic here. Let me tell ya though - there were A LOT of stairs.

Later Preston, Stefan, and I all decided to head out and find some food. On the way we had a dance party. No regrets.

So that was our day in Córdoba! It was sweet. I think that mosque is my favorite of all the buildings that we have toured so far, it was beautiful. I really like Muslim architecture. A lot more than the Gothic Christian stuff. I think the Muslim architecture is a lot warmer and a lot more inviting than the cold stone of the big cathedrals. Both of them are beautiful in their own way, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be the Muslim mosques.
